Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community shared its support for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
